The Alexandria Aces take on the Bethesda Big Train at Frank Mann Field tonight at 6:30 in a matchup between the league’s two best teams thus far. The Big Train (9-1) are first in the Cal Ripken League Standings, with their lone loss to Gaithersburg on June 12, while Alexandria (7-4) is tied for second place with the Giants.
Last time the teams met, Bethesda scored two runs in a ninth-inning rally to shock the Aces, 2-1, at Shirley Povich Field. On Tuesday night, the teams will play at Frank Mann Field for the first time since the Big Train beat Alexandria in the 2021 LCS Championship.
The Aces are batting a league-best .270 on the year, but Bethesda has a league-best 2.28 ERA, over 2 runs lower than the Giants’ second-best 4.88 ERA.
Britt Yount (5.40 ERA) is expected to start for Alexandria today, while Ryan Sanders (2.70 ERA) takes the bump for Bethesda.
