Playoff Game tonight at South County HS

The Alexandria Aces start postseason play Thursday at South County High School for play-in game with the No. 3 seeded FCA Braves. First pitch is set at 7 p.m.
The Aces dropped the regular season series to FCA by a 7-1 margin after finishing with a cumulative 13-24 summer record.
The Aces have rested their top pitcher Jared Lyons (GMU) the final week of the regular season slate, through it appears Brandon McGaw (Georgetown) will get the start. He’s made seven appearances on the year striking out 22 batters for a 3.37 ERA behind 21.1 innings.
The future Hoya’s latest start came July 17 at Montgomery Blair where the freshman commit tossed six scoreless frames allowing just a pair to reach base. The outing earned him Ripken League Pitcher of the Week honors.
McGaw has seen the Braves just once this season on July 7th in a 3-2 loss. He made a brief appearance throwing one perfect inning in relief.
FCA is yet to announce their starting pitcher; however, the club is hot winning seven of their last ten to ascend themselves a full two seeds in the standings.
Be sure to keep a close eye on outfielder Casey Mayes (Michigan State). The Spartan has abused FCA pitcher’s all summer as he’s hitting an 11-15 clip at SCHS with four doubles and a triple to his name.
The emerging sophomore notably carded three RBI in the Aces lineup Tuesday behind a two-run homer over the batter’s eye up in Gaithersburg.
Winners of the ballgame advance to second round of the Ripken League Playoffs in three-game series against the three-time defending Bethesda Big Train. Loser goes home.
