Aces go on the road for two in Silver Spring to try and end skid
The Aces have dropped five in a row, but will look to get back on track on Sunday in Silver Spring.
In their last game, the Aces gave up 15 runs to the Braves on Saturday. The offense struck out 16 times. Aside from a Max Romero (Vanderbilt) solo homerun in the first inning and a three-hit night from Casey Mayes (Michigan State), the offense was pretty much silent.
The T-Bolts are coming off a double-header sweep at home on Saturday against the Giants. They won game one 13-6 and game two 5-3.
Silver Spring-Takoma is now in second place and a half-game up on the third place Grays.
The Aces sit in the basement of the standings, 2.5 games behind the Braves for fifth.
In game one of the twin-bill, the Aces will be the home team as it is a makeup game from a previous rainout.
Game two will be the previously scheduled game in which the Thunderbolts are the home team.
In game one, the T-Bolts are scheduled to throw Zeke Gongola. It will be his fourth appearance and third start. The right-hander from Montgomery College is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA.
In game two, Bradyn Kail is slated to get the ball for the T-Bolts. Kail is 1-0 with a 4.87 ERA. The righty from California University of Pennsylvania tossed six, three-run innings against the Aces earlier in the season.
The Aces have not yet announced their starters for Sunday’s games.
Both games can be heard live on mixlr.com/alexandriaaces. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 5:30.
