Aces look to continue good baseball (Preview)

Aces return home after winning three out of their last four

The Aces have erupted offensively over the last few days to break out of their slump to start the year.

Alexandria has tallied nine or more hits in six straight games. Today, Gaithersburg visits Frank Mann Field.

The Aces picked up their first win of the year in Gaithersburg a few days ago and the Giants will visit Alexandria looking for revenge.

Scotty Morgan (George Mason) is coming off of the best individual offensive performance from an Aces hitter this season. In game two of the double-header in Bethesda, Morgan had three hits, including two two-run home runs and five RBI.

Morgan isn’t the only one seeing the ball well, either. Max Romero (Vanderbilt) has picked up a few hits in his first few games for the Aces as well as T.J. McKenzie (Vanderbilt) topping the order by reaching base consistently.

Pitching has been much better for the Aces, too. The last three starts from Tyler Briggs (UConn), Seth Marano (Lansing CC) and Connor Campbell (Florence-Darlington Tech) have been superb. Each of them kept opposing lineups off the base paths and helped solidify the defense for Alexandria.

The pitching matchup tonight will be Reece Gould (0-0) for the Giants and a right-hander Nick Sadd (0-2), from Bucknell, for the Aces.

Sadd hasn’t started a game yet this year. It will be Sadd’s third appearance of the season. He has thrown 4.0 innings and allowed five runs on nine walks, while striking out seven.

This will be the second time the Aces have faced Gould. He pitched three innings and gave up an unearned run on no hits against Alexandria on June 5th.

The Giants come into the game having lost six straight contests and sit at 5-7. The Aces have won three out of four and have a 3-7 record.
