Aces head to Bethesda to take on the Train (Preview)

After falling to a slow 0-2 start, Alexandria continues into the latter half of their Maryland road trip at the Bethesda Big Train Thursday night. First pitch from Shirley Povich Field is set for 7 p.m.
The Big Train are 1-0 after defeating the Silver Spring Bolts Wednesday night on the road by a 10-1 margin. Bethesda stands as the league’s reigning champion from last summer and remains the team to beat in the Cal Ripken League.
The Aces are still sorting out their regular lineup with multiple players seeing early season action.
And within just the first two games, Alexandria has made tremendous progress forward from their opening day loss, patching immediate holes in terms of defensive errors and control from the mound.
“We just gotta let the boys play,” Manager Chris Breset said.
With just one defensive error Wednesday, the Aces pitching staff tossed 7 hitless innings at Gaithersburg in the 3-2 loss.
Breset says this improvement will continue throughout the season and is overall pleased with how clean the club has played as of late on both sides of the ball.
