Game 39: Aces vs. Loudoun Riverdogs

The Aces with their season hanging in a balance take on the Loudoun Riverdogs tonight at 6:30 PM at Frank Mann Field. Due to Loudoun not being able to use their field tonight it allowed the game to be rescheduled to a home game for the Aces. The Aces who still have a path to a possible postseason appearance will need to just focus on winning the final two games of the season and take destiny into their own hands as they do hold a tie breaker against the Rockville Express that would allow the Aces to continue on to the playoffs.

Tonight’s must win game will have starting right hander and 6 foot 3 pitcher Cole Lalonde on the bump. Lalonde a native of Minnetonka, Minnesota who attends a junior college in that area of Minnesota is out to impress Division 1 and professional scouts a like and to prove he can play against the top competition. In Lalonde‚Äôs last start against the Riverdogs, he threw a very solid three innings of work as he only allowed one hit to the team and struck out a season high five batters at Rockridge High School. If the Aces look to get a much needed win tonight, look for Lalonde to be a big reason as to why.

On the mound for The Loudoun Riverdogs will be 6 foot 4 right hander Tim Newell out of Immaculata college. Newell in his second year playing for the Riverdogs and has compiled a record of 1 win and 4 losses this season with a 8.17 ERA. Hitters of the Aces should expect a combination of fastballs as well as complimented by off speed pitches.

The Aces will need to rely on a combination of their core hitters they have had all season long. Look to Kris Kremer (Penn State) to really make an impact as it seems he has time and time again delivered the big hits the Aces need this year and watch out for catcher Reid Powers (South Alabama) who has been absolutely on a tear at the plate as he has an ongoing 11 game hit streak for the Aces and has really helped bolster the lineup in recent weeks.

Game starts at 6:30 at Frank Mann Field so make sure you come out for first pitch. If not able to attend, listen live on Aces radio at or follow us for live updates on twitter using the screen name @Alexandriaaces
