Game 33 – Aces vs. Giants

The Aces fresh off of taking both games of a double header from the Rockville Express will look to continue their winnings ways as they return to Frank Mann Field to take on a tough opponent with the Gaithersburg Giants. Yesterday’s two wins were huge for the Aces as it tied them with the FCA Herndon Braves for the third and final playoff spot in the Cal Ripken Collegiate South Division with just a little more than a week left in the regular season.

On the mound for the Alexandria Aces will be talented right hander Wyatt Rush who is looking to build upon his 3 wins and 2 loss record. Rush who has looked dominant at times this season, lived up to the hype on the mound against the Bethesda Big Train in his last outing as he held the most dominant offensive force in the CRCBL (Cal Ripken Collegiate League) to one run and one hit over 5 outstanding innings of work. Rush who has the widest variety of pitches on the team to throw, will set the pace for the Aces tonight on the mound and the team will follow his lead.

On the bump for the Gaithersburg Giants will be Travis Craven a left handed junior who hails from Whitman College. Craven is the type of pitcher any team would want as he is not just used as a starter for this Giants ball club, but also has excelled in relief appearances which makes him as diverse as any pitcher in the CRCBL. Craven sits with a record of 2 wins 2 losses with 21 strikeouts in 26 innings of work.

For the Aces to win tonight, they are going to need the much needed production they provided at the plate yesterday. The Aces who were slumping offensively for much of the larger part of the last 15 games, really put everything in motion who really got big nights from Justin Kelly (Wayne State), Kris Kremer (Penn State), Isaiah Thomas (Vanderbilt commit), and Tristan Jorah (Wayne State). If the Aces are going to beat Gaithersburg tonight, look for their run production to be in a similar place as it was for the double header yesterday.

Game time is 6:30 PM at Frank Mann Field so make sure to come out early for first pitch! If not able to attend you can listen live on Aces Radio at or follow us live on twitter with the username @alexandriaaces.
