Aces square off versus the Redbirds tonight at 6:30 at the Frank

The Aces fresh off of losing a tough one at Frank Mann Field to the Gaithersburg Giants, will have a chance to bounce back at home going against one of the top teams in the league in the Baltimore Redbirds. The Redbirds who have the leagues second best record, have a team littered with talent as a majority of their players come from some of the top Division 1 leagues and conferences in the country such as the ACC, SEC, etc. The Aces on the other hand despite losing last night, are still in the playoff hunt as they are only a half game behind the FCA Herndon Braves for the final playoff spot in the Cal Ripken Collegiate South Division.

The Alexandria Aces will have pitcher Cole Lalonde on the mound tonight for their expected battle with the Redbirds. Lalonde on the year has a record of no wins and 2 losses with a 7.91 ERA for the Aces so far this season. Lalonde a big 6 foot 3 right hander has got a solid combination of fastball/breaking ball If the Aces are going to advance and really make a run at the playoffs this season, Lalonde has got to be on the top of his game tonight.

Cole Beavin will be the starter for the Baltimore Redbirds tonight. Beavin a 6 foot 5 right hander has looked extremely dominant at times this season for the Redbirds as he has a record of 2 wins to zero losses with a 3.25 ERA in 19 innings of work with 22 strikeouts. His last start was most likely his best of the season as he went seven innings against the Silver Spring-Tacoma Thunderbolts striking out 10 batters and only allowing 2 earned runs in an absolute gem of a performance at home for the Redbirds. Make no mistake about, the Aces will have to get their lineup going early today if they want a chance to get star pitcher Beavin out of the game early.

The Aces Kris Kremer (Penn State) has shined for Alexandria all season long at the plate and in the field. Kremer’s season even got added to the all star game as a guy for the Alexandria Aces. Kremer leads the team in hits (32), home runs (5) and runs batted in (17). If the Aces are able to pull off a victory today over Baltimore, look for Kremer to lead the way today.
