The Aces coming off of a tough 10-3 loss to the Bethesda Big Train on Friday night, look to bounce back Saturday on the road against the Loudoun Riverdogs, a fellow Cal Ripken Collegiate League South Division team. The matchup will feature two teams hungry for a win as both have dreams of making the Cal Ripken Collegiate League Playoffs later next month.
A big time pitching matchup is in play tonight between the Aces and Riverdogs as the Aces will plan to use one of the more highly touted pitchers the team possesses in Cole Lalonde who pitches at Century Community College. Lalonde a big talent who possesses an impressive fastball/breaking ball combo is looking to stand out to Division one scouts in a chance to get a scholarship offer to play some of the top talent in college baseball.
Carter Strain will be on the hill for the Riverdogs tonight, a right hander from the University of Christopher Newport. Strain is an imposing pitcher as he stands at a lengthy 6 foot 4 frame. Strain will be making his first start of the season for the Riverdogs, who are the only winless team left in Cal Ripken Collegiate play.
The Aces look to be helped out by standout lead off hitter and shortstop Chris Alleyne (Maryland) who made some incredible plays in the field as well as getting two base hits in four at bats against the league leading Big Train. Alleyene who checked into his first game on opening night for the injured Ryan Tassone has made play after play, and it is a safe call to say that even when Tassone returns from injury, the Aces will look for ways to still use the multifaceted Alleyene.
First pitch is at 7PM and the stadium is located at 4340 Loudoun Reserve Drive. Follow all Aces info on our twitter feed @AlexandriaAces. We will also be broadcasting the game on Aces Radio.
