Rain ultimately cancelled Saturday’s game between the Aces and the Loudon Riverdogs, so the Aces will play the FCA Herndon Braves for game five on Sunday night.
In their previous game, the Aces fell to the Bethesda Big Train 10-3. The Braves, who are 2-1 this season, are coming off a 6-1 loss to the Baltimore Redbirds.
The Braves have four players batting .300 or over. They are led by Devin Mangum, who is batting .500 with three doubles, a double, and an RBI. Austin Gauthier and Bryce Leasure, who bat in the top of the Braves lineup, are both batting over .300 with a combined six hits and RBI’s. Look for these batters to try to do some damage when they step to the plate.
The Braves will send Robert Hamby, a sophomore from Winthrop University, to the hill tomorrow. He did not pitch for the Winthrop Eagles this past spring, but he played for the Braves last summer in which 19 and two thirds innings, accounting for 24 strikeouts while only allowing seven walks and six hits.
Returning to the mound to the Aces will be Wyatt Rush. Rush pitched in the first game of the season against the Silver Spring Thunderbolts which resulted in an 8-3 loss. He has good fast ball movement and averaged almost 10 strikeouts at Lansing Community College. The strikeout throwing righty to rebound from his last start where he gave up four runs in six innings with two strikeouts.
The Aces take on the Braves at Annandale High School in Virginia at 7pm. Listen to the game on Aces Radio and follow on Twitter at Alexandria_Aces.
