Aces Stay Red Hot With Win Over The Riverdogs

The Alexandria Aces stay red hot as they are able to pull off a come from behind victory against the Loudon Riverdogs tonight winning in 12 innings by a final score of 5-4.  The Aces were able to extend the game into extras by a clutch solo Home Run by the first baseman Justin Kelly who took a first pitch breaking ball over the left center field wall.  From there the Aces and Riverdogs battled for three more innings and it came down to a leadoff walk from the DH Tristan Jorah.  After Jorah’s walk, left fielder Connor Bacon took one on the shoulder and put the eventual game winning run Jorah on second in scoring position.  Thanks to a much needed sacrifice bunt by Joe “Joey Hustle” Pace, it advanced the runners to third and second respectively.  After that, the stage was set for starting Third baseman Luke Balanger as he was able to hit a game winning sac fly to right field bringing home Jorah and winning the game.

The Aces starter Cole Lalonde looked special at times, specifically in the first 3 innings of work as he went 5 and 2/3rds allowing three runs and striking out 5.   The bullpen did an extremely impressive job for the Aces as Keegan Foge and Austin “Goose” Gossmann put 6 and 1/3rd innings of work and only allowing one run.  Goose has been nothing short of spectacular out of the pen for the Aces as he struck out 5 in 2 innings of shut out ball, giving himself the win.  Goose known for being the closer for this team, has a tough pitchers mentality on the mound and has a sensational fastball/breaking ball combination.

The Aces lineup was lead by Kris Kramer and Ethan Cady as Kremer had his 3rd 3 plus hit game in the last 4 games total.  Kremer also was able to get two extra base hits on his first three hits as they went for a double and triple respectively.  Cady got things started early for the Aces with a 2 run homerun of his own to right field bringing home Justin Kelly in the bottom of the first.  Cady and Kremer have clearly been two of the catalysts for this team and it doesn’t look to be stopping anytime soon.

The Aces have won 5 of their last 6 games and now have a record of 6-4.  Chris Berset when asked on the teams success was excited post game, but shrugged it off and said the team is just taking each win game by game.  The Aces will play The DC Grays tomorrow on the road at 7:00 PM at their place.
