Game 34 Preview: Aces at Grays

The Aces (25-8) and the Braves were through an inning and a half on Friday when a deluge of rain caused both games to be postponed. Most likely, the games will be made up Sunday afternoon. Today, Saturday, the Aces travel to the Washington Nationals Youth Academy for the third and final time as they take on the D.C. Grays (11-22).

Pitching for the Aces will be Alex Garbrick (Morehead State). He has a spotless 3-0 record, and the Aces have won all five games that he’s started this year. He carries a 2.66 ERA into the matchup, and last pitched one week ago against the T-Bolts. In that game, he threw four no-hit innings and only allowed two walks while striking out three. The Aces have faced the Grays four times already this year, Garbrick has not faced them yet.

D.C. will trot out Matthew Dalke. He’s making his seventh start for the Grays, and he does have experience against the Aces. Dalke started the season opener, a game that the Aces won 10-3, and lasted four and two-thirds innings while allowing two runs on four hits and six walks. He did strike out five batters.

The Grays are coming off a loss to the Bethesda Big Train on Friday, and have lost their last six in a row and nine of their last ten. If you can’t make it to the Washington Nationals Youth Academy, the game will be on Aces Radio or you can follow along on Twitter at @Alexandria_Aces.
